Mark McDougall- Day 2

Date: 12th April 2016

Hello from Tyndrum!

Reached here 8hrs 40min after leaving Rowardennan, after a slog of a day.

Twas a comfy (bunk) bed in the hostel last night, but it seemed like the room door was being opened every 5min so sleep was patchy.

Skies were a bit greyer by time I was leaving and the wind had moved from southerly to northerly – not good as that was the way I was heading!

The stretch up to Inverarnan is tough to say the least. Tree roots and rocks abound, and progress is slow and slippery – my poles prevented me from sore falls several times.

After the relative shelter of the loch-side the stretch up to Crianlarich is a bit more exposed, and although the wind had picked up and was blowing in my face it did at least keep me cool!

The last 6 miles or so into Tyndrum offered great vistas of snow-topped Munro’s, and consisted of hilly forest trail and then fairly flat, easy (thankfully!), walking.

Tomorrow is a slightly longer day (official mileage 28), but should be better underfoot through the stunning scenery – looking forward to it!
