Edinburgh and the Lothians

The Edinburgh and Lothian Branch run regular activity groups for children with Down’s syndrome and their families. You can find details of these sessions in the ‘Regular events’ section.

Our 0-5years playgroup provides a warm and welcoming safe space for families to meet and chat while the children can play with a variety of toys and games. Our group is joined by NHS Speech & Language, Occupational Health and Physiotherapy specialists, who come along to each session to offer support and guidance.

Our Primary Peeps Group for children 5-12 offers lots of activities for the children to get involved in. It’s an opportunity for them to make new friends and for families to have the chance to chat.

The aims of the branch are to provide a welcoming and friendly point of contact for anyone with Down’s syndrome and their families; to ensure that the groups and regular activities it operates are relevant, fun, well run and accessible to all who want to take part, and; to do everything it can to ensure that the positive messages about people with Down’s syndrome are heard over the negative ones.
