COVID 19 & Down’s Syndrome Survey

Date: 8th July 2020

The Trisomy 21 Research Society (T21RS) have a global COVID-19 Task Force, back in April they asked families, caregivers and clinicians of people with Down’s syndrome who had had COVID-19 to complete a survey and tell them about their experiences of the virus. They received 349 responses, from these responses they were able provide some preliminary takeaways about symptoms and risk factors. These results can be viewed here.

You can also watch a webcast interview of LuMind IDSC’s Chief Scientific Officer, James Hendrix, PhD, interviewing the Trisomy 21 Research Society (T21RS) COVID-19 Task Force members in which they talk about the purpose of the survey and their findings so far. You can watch the webcast interview here.

T21RS are still looking for more responses. This survey is vital to gain more information about the risk and course of COVID-19 among people with Down’s syndrome. It is hoped that this information can be used to help identify those who are at risk and how to better protect and help them. You can access the survey here.
