Volunteer at the World Down Syndrome Congress
In July, Down’s Syndrome Scotland are hosting the World Down Syndrome Congress (WDSC). The congress is a triennial event that has taken place in many countries around the world including Dublin, India and South Africa. This is the first time it has taken place in Scotland. More than 1,200 people are expected to come from around the world to the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glagow, 24th—27th July.
As part of the WDSC 2018 we have recruited a team of Commissioners and Hosts (adults with Ds) who are volunteering at the congress. They will be supported to undertake formal duties during the event, which include introducing and thanking speakers, ceremonial duties (opening and handover ceremonies), meet and greet, assisting delegates, registration, evaluation and co-facilitating workshops as well as participating in some of the many activities and evening events on the programme. We are currently looking for volunteers to support and mentor the Commissioners and hosts in their roles during the Congress.
