Information about FriendZ Space for Parents and Carers

Over the summer we ran ‘Talking Tuesday’ sessions online, these sessions were made possible by the Wellbeing Fund, a grant we received from the Scottish Government.  These sessions allowed us to pilot weekly social groups with some of our adult members to help us develop a programme for all our adult members. From our learnings and the feedback we received from participants we developed FriendZ Space.

The COVID-19 Pandemic and the associated restrictions are particularly hard on adults with Down’s syndrome and many may be feeling isolated, lonely, or cut off from their friends and regular activities. Our FriendZ Space sessions are aimed at bringing people together to have some fun, friendly chat, and share their experiences. These sessions will be a mixture of craft and wellbeing activities and informal social sessions.

The sessions will take place over Zoom, each session will be limited in number so that everyone has a chance to participate. There will be a new schedule of events each month. These sessions are specifically for people aged 18 and over, we are also running online sessions for young people aged 13 -19 through our TeenZ Space programme. You can find out more about TeenZ Space here
