Mark McDougall- Day 3

Date: 13th April 2016

Greetings from Kinlochleven!

Arrived here at 4pm having left Tyndrum just before 7am.

Today was all about the views. To me it is by far the most scenic stretch of The Way with majestic and foreboding snow-topped mountains, crystal clear rivers, waterfalls and expansive moors and valleys.

It was also really hard going at times, particularly tackling the Devil’s Staircase at about the 23 mile mark – didn’t think that one through properly at the planning stage!

The descent down into Kinlochleven is long and a bit tortuous, and I am not looking forward to going back up it on Thursday morning.

However, I’ll deal with that then. For now I have had a blissful bath in my B&B and looking forward to being back here tomorrow night, by which point I will be on the return leg. It’s 15 miles to Fort William, so it’s going to be the longest day distance-wise.

The promise of another Radox-filled bath will keep me going, though, I hope!
