Mark McDougall- 2 Days to go!

Date: 8th April 2016

Mark McDougalAs I near the start of my challenge, I am filled with a mixture of apprehension, enthusiasm, and a genuine curiosity about how I will cope with and react to what I have taken to do over the coming week.

My preparations are almost complete. Recently I walked up Ben Lomond (in 1.5 hours) and surprised myself with how good I felt afterwards, managing to walk from Balloch to Cardross then back (circa 10 miles). Two days later I went for a 24 mile walk, and felt no aches or pains the day after – hurray! My first aid pack is ready, and I have pretty much finalised the rest of my packing. Other than going for regular walks with our dog, this week I have given myself a rest from doing too much walking and have been going swimming instead – a great all over workout but far easier on my knees and zero chances of developing blisters!

At the time of writing my sponsorship total is at a fantastic £1,285 plus Gift Aid, so thank you very much to all of you who have made a donation. MacDonald Cake Company (www.macdonaldcakecompany.co.uk) is the latest business to sponsor me, and hopefully there will still be a few more to do the same. I may have exceeded my original fundraising target, but there is no upper limit!

I am aiming to leave Milngavie at 9am on Sunday, and will get updates to the DSS team that evening and on subsequent days. In the meantime, wish me luck!
