Choir 21’s Summer Anthem

Over the last few weeks our CHOIR 21 singers have been thinking about summer. We brainstormed lots of summer words and ideas, and came up with a big word web full of summer-themed words like – warm, blue sea, BBQ, beach, summer party.

The words were then put to the tune of one of CHOIR 21’s favourite songs – Thank You for the Music by ABBA. We then started practising it together and CHOIR 21 came up with a few more suggestions….mainly more specific food for the BBQ like hot dogs and Tea Cakes! We put these words into the song, and this is our finished version of HIP HOORAY FOR SUMMER! Our very own summer anthem! We hope you enjoy singing and signing along and we really hope it helps bring the sun out for our great Scottish summer!

If you are over 10 years old ( current CHOIR 21 singers range from 10- 30 somethings) and interested in joining CHOIR 21, please sign up on Hub 21 or email katy@dsscotland.org.uk for more information. We meet on Zoom on Wednesdays at 4.30-5.15pm. (We will be running part-time over the summer, see Hub21 for dates.) There will also be pre-recorded summer songs available for signing and singing practice, so let us know if you are interested in joining us on Zoom or receiving a pre-recorded video.

Hope to see some more enthusiastic CHOIR 21 members soon. All the Makaton signs are taught gradually, and lyrics are provided – you can just sing, just sign, or just come along and enjoy the music and company.
