Find what you need through Down's Syndrome Scotland's Resource Search Engine
Down's Syndrome Scotland's resource library can now be searchable through the Scottish Health Libraries (Shelcat) Online Catalogue.
Searching our library
- By clicking here, you can access all resources through the Scottish Consortium of Learning Disabilities.
- To limit your search to DS Scotland resources, click the dropdown menu in the "library to search" category and click "Down's Syndrome Scotland".
- By doing this, it allows you to search our library by title, author, keyword and formats (ie journals, audio-visual).
Search results
- Once you click on a link of one of the results, it takes you to a full record view.
- To read a summary of the resource click on the book cover, when available.
Request a resource
- Go back to the search results and click on your chosen resource's link underneath "Library (items/loans)". This shows you how many books we have (first number) and how many we currently have on loan (second number).
- You can phone DS Scotland on 0131 313 4225 to request a copy.
- To request a copy online, please click the login button on the top right corner of the web page. Enter your barcode and password found on your library membership letter issued by DS Scotland. If you don't know your barcode or password please phone Margaret on 0131 313 4225. Scroll down to the bottom of this page if you are not a library member to fill out the registration form.
- Once you log in you can click on the "local request" link to request the resource.
- In the "note to library" please type "please post to my address on file" and then click "go".
- Once you make a "local request", your requested resources will be posted to you as soon as possible and your loan will be valid for a month.
Renew a resource
- To renew a resource, log into your account and click "My Account".
- Under "Activities" click "Current Loans".
- Tick the check box next to your chosen resource(s) and click "Renew Selected". You will only be able to renew once if there is not a queue for the resource.
