The Family Fund

The Family Fund helps families with children with additional support needs and disabilities to grasp opportunities and live lives like everyone else.

The Family Fund is the UK's largest grant-maker with disabled or seriously ill children aged 17 or under. The Fund helps around 55,000 low-income families with disabled or seriously ill children each year with the things they need, such as washing machines and dryers, computers, family holidays, driving lessons and hospital visiting costs.

The general eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • You are the parent or carer of a severely disabled child aged 17 or under
  • You live in Scotland, England, Northern Ireland or Wales
  • You have evidence of your entitlement to one of the following: Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit, Income-based Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support, Incapacity Benefit, Employment Support Allowance, Housing Benefit or Pension Credit
  • You have current legal residency in the UK and have lived in the UK for six months
