Continuing with your pregnancy

You may have been given a high risk for your baby having Down’s syndrome or you may have had a test which told you that your baby definitely has Down’s syndrome. This will be a very anxious time thinking about what the future will hold for you and your family.

We hope that the information in this section will help you to learn more about Down’s syndrome and help you to prepare for your baby’s arrival.

Telling those close to you that your baby has Down’s syndrome may be very daunting. Make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to come to terms with the idea first, but remember that you need some support right now.

We have a booklet called Getting to know a child with Down’s syndrome specifically written for family and friends which will help those close to you understand more about Down’s syndrome and how they can help you at this time.
