Adults
Adults with Down's syndrome have exactly the same rights as anyone else, especially the right to be treated with dignity and respect.
Having meaningful, motivating activity and occupation is a fundamental need for all human beings. Whilst employment opportunities may be in short supply for people with Down's syndrome, many still enjoy a varied weekly range of activities including college, supported employment, resource centre and voluntary work.
Adults with Down's syndrome need to be as involved as they possibly can be in all aspects of their lives. They require appropriate information and support to help them to make choices, however great or small, about how they want to live their lives.
Adults with Down's syndrome have the same rights as anyone else. The right to vote, get married, live where they choose and to have access to good healthcare. The right to be treated as an adult.
