Our History
Down’s Syndrome Scotland was established as a registered charity in 1982
A group of parents wanted to ensure that support and information was available to everyone in Scotland affected by Down’s syndrome. Raising awareness about Down’s syndrome has always been a high priority for everyone involved in the organisation and we believe that there is now greater public and professional understanding about the potential of each individual with Down’s syndrome. There have been many changes in the organisation during the past 27 years; however, the main focus of our work continues to be around supporting parents and individuals with Down’s syndrome whilst ensuring that up to date information is available to anyone with an interest in Down’s syndrome.
